Things to bring for the layout trip:
-Ohio Hunting License WITH state stamp, signed federal stamp, and HIP survey complete
-NON TOXIC shells. Captain Brian suggests bringing at-least 50 shells. Sometimes the layout experience can humble even the best of shooters. Recommended to have a 12ga or 20ga shotgun which is NOT provided by the guide.
-In the colder temps, hand warmers are always a good thing to have
-Waders OR bibs are recommended with a waterproof outer layer
-Upper half clothing is recommended to be something that matches the color of Lake Erie or Sandusky Bay. This means grays, browns or greens. Gray would be your safest bet.
-Shotgun WITH case
-Snacks and drinks (we do make breakfast and coffee on occasion, but feel free to bring snacks and drinks)
-Sunglasses
-Motion sickness solutions if this is something that you experience
-SOME HUNTS MAY END FASTER THAN OTHERS. We are dependent on weather, bird concentration and the shooters' ability to down birds. It is nearly impossible to give a definitive end time, but this can be discussed during the booking.
SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY
With this in mind, we will re-iterate safety topics before, during, and after the hunt. Transferring from boat to boat is something that we do not take lightly. Take it slow and listen for direction from the crew and ALWAYS have the firearm unloaded until ready to hunt. Firearms MUST be in a case during transportation with the receiver OPEN!
